los tejidos de carbono Spread Tow emplean cintas de carbono llamadas spread tows para producir refuerzos ultra ligeros en a producción de piezas composite ultra ligeras.
Son ideales para procesos de infusión, inyección (RTM & RTM ligero), fabricación de preimpregnados (prepregs) y laminaciones manuales compactadas al vacío. Son generalmente empleados con resinas epoxi, viniléster y uretano-acrílicas.
La extensión de hilos de carbono en forma de cintas muy delgadas permite fabricar tejidos muy finos cuyas propiedades mecánicas resultan excelentes. Con esta tecnología se pueden conseguir importantes ahorros de peso con aumento de las propiedades mecánicas, comparado con los refuerzos convencionales.
Las cintas unidireccionales de tipo Spread Tow son mucho más delgadas que las cintas de carbono convencionales y tiene más material empaquetado en la misma superficie, lo que aporta por tanto mayores propiedades mecánicas.
Las estructuras Spread Tow permiten fabricar laminados más delgados, que encuentran aplicación en la fabricación de piezas de bicicleta, Formula 1, NASCAR, tablas de surf, palos de golf, palos de hockey, aplicaciones aeroespaciales, industriales and barcos de Copa América.
